This commitment is based on current European and Spanish regulations in accordance with national legislation (Law 11/2023) which transposes Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council and in line with its commitment to offer product and service distribution channels accessible to all its customers. At UCI we are focused on a Digital Accessibility strategy that sets the roadmap with the objectives and actions to be developed, to guarantee the improvement of accessibility in our channels.
Scope of application
This statement applies to all UCI websites, sections, microsites or portals, unless expressly indicated otherwise.
Status of compliance
UCI websites partially comply with the UNE-EN 301549:2022 standard, based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, established by the W3C.
With the aim of improving the experience of all users and moving towards the highest possible level of compliance, UCI has implemented technical and functional measures to support accessibility, which allow the display and interaction with web content to be adapted to different needs.
Currently available features include, but are not limited to:
- Options to adjust text size, line spacing, and content readability.
- Tools to modify color contrast, apply high contrast schemes, or alternative display modes that facilitate visual perception.
- Ability to highlight links, titles, and interactive elements to improve their identification.
- Keyboard navigation support functions, facilitating access without the need to use a mouse.
- Options to reduce animations and elements that may cause distractions, facilitating a more comfortable experience for people with cognitive or visual sensitivities.
- Improved compatibility with assistive technologies, such as screen readers, through semantic and interaction adjustments.
UCI is currently developing continuous improvement plans - which we will address in the section "Ongoing Accessibility Measures" - which include technical reviews, accessibility audits and the progressive correction of detected barriers, with the commitment to constantly move towards greater compliance with UNE-EN 301549:2022 and WCAG 2.2 level AA.
Content not accessible
Despite these measures, some content and elements of the website may present occasional accessibility issues.
Content that does not fully comply with accessibility regulations may be due to:
- Specific errors in HTML tagging of elements (ALT attributes in images, ARIA roles, nested headings).
- Old PDF documents or downloadable files that do not meet accessibility requirements.
- Videos without audio description or full subtitles.
- Third-party content not funded or developed by UCI, such as external widgets, interactive maps, or third-party integrations.
Accessibility measures in progress
- Optimization of accessible multimedia content . Progress is being made in incorporating subtitles, audio descriptions, and transcripts into pre-recorded videos.
- Visual design improvements . Text and graphic contrast levels are being reviewed to align with accessibility standards, in accordance with WCAG 2.2 level AA.
- Accessibility improvements are being implemented in forms and interactions . Enhancements are being made to the identification and labeling of form fields, as well as to the presentation of error messages and instructions. These adjustments aim to facilitate keyboard navigation and improve the understanding of the information entered.
- Review of structure, navigation, and content comprehension . Work is underway to improve the clarity of headings, titles, links, and controls to ensure more intuitive and predictable navigation, especially in cases where context changes occur. This is all centered around a review of the semantic structure of the pages.
- Use of alternative text in images . All images on websites are being analyzed to determine whether they are decorative or informative in order to apply descriptive labels for screen readers.
- Keyboard navigation review . We are ensuring that all interactive elements—such as menus, buttons, or forms—are accessible only using the keyboard.
- Compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies . The website is being adapted to ensure that its code and custom components are correctly recognized by technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and speech recognition systems. This includes the correct association of roles, states, and labels that allow these tools to effectively communicate information and interactions to the users who need them.
